Science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology and Botany; and Geography as an Arts subject have separate laboratories in our college. These academic resources are at present developed up to the requirements of undergraduate studies. But the rapid increase in the number of University Grants Commission Research Projects asks for a thorough update of the laboratories so that it may fulfill the demands of higher education and research. Keeping in view this very fact we have already decided to equip the Chemistry department laboratory with highly sophisticated instruments like photo-spectrometre etc. which are even rare in many institutions. Further development of other laboratories in a similar way will also take place in near future subject to their research needs and availability of funds.
Very recently we have started developing a language laboratory for soft-skill training of both our students and staffs who have English language in their curriculum and who also need to learn it for professional reasons. In this connection we have already identified the space just beside the computer laboratory of BBA and BCA honours departments on the first floor of the annexed building and finalized the terms and conditions of placing the work order with STEP-CACM, an IIT Kharagpur based company which is commonly accepted as the most dynamic agency in building chain of language laboratories in the eastern region of our country. A number of twenty four students at a time could be accommodated in this digital language classroom so that each one of them may get the benefit of learning language-skills through LSRW method via professionally developed audio-visual course contents, using the most up-to-date wireless technology. To be completed during the present academic year, this language laboratory will be one of the best soft skill training centres in the entire Asansol- Burnpur industrial zone.
