The History Department started its journey since the inception of this college in 1961. The department teaches both Honours and Program courses in the subject. The department has dedicated faculty members who try their level best to reach out to the students many of whom are first generation learners. There has been a great demand among students for the History Honours course. The department is supported by a very rich library with many invaluable publications and a rare collection of historical maps for use of students and faculty. The department organises seminars, talks, webinars so that students and faculty members get an opportunity to interact with eminent scholars. The outgoing final semester student securing highest overall marks in History honours is awarded medal by the college. Students of the department have established themselves in various fields and are in touch with the department as alumni.
