The Department of Physics came into existence in 1961. The department initially offered general degree course program. The honours course program started in the year 1989. The Department currently offers B.Sc (Honours) in Physics and B.Sc (Program) in Physics under Kazi Nazrul University Asansol. The Department has been recognized for its excellent teaching and state of art laboratory facility. The members of faculty are highly involved with research activities and have been accorded with several administrative committees, referees of many national and international journals.
Many students of Department were placed in different research laboratories, higher education departments and Secondary educations, as well as in MNCs. Our students have been successful in research placements in India and Abroad.
The department periodically organizes seminars or lectures by eminent personalities for the benefit of research scholars and students. Department publish the wall magazine BOSON in yearly mode revealing the recent science activities.
Our Department is the Nodal Examination centre of National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE) conducted by IAPT.
Infrastructure Facilities
We have three well equipped Laboratories, Seminar Library, ICT enabled classrooms, Electronics research laboratory (for faculties) etc.
