The Department of Urdu started its journey since the inception of college in 1961. The Department initially offered only general degree course. After completion of a long journey the Department has been introduced honours course in academic year 2006-2007. Currently the Department offers both honours and program courses in Urdu. CBCS system of instruction is followed under the affiliation of Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol. The faculties of the Department are well known that education is not merely communicate the knowledge to the students but it is a process of developing the human personality in all its dimensions, intellectual, physical, emotional, social, moral and spiritual. So the members of faculty are fully dedicated to cultivate these characteristics to the students through teachings and extracurricular activities. The Department regularly organizes seminar, special lecture, quiz competition, essay writing competition, bait bazi etc. for the benefit of the students. These experiences are becoming very useful to our students.
